The Isle of Man TT is a unique event: Every June the World’s best motorcycle road racers make a pilgrimage to the Isle of Man, a small island in the Irish Sea between the England and Ireland, to challenge the world famous TT Mountain Course.
The course, first used in 1911, is made up of 37.73 miles of public roads that, for two weeks, are turned into the world’s most demanding race circuit. It is the last of the great pioneering road circuits.
Some rider do it for the glory but most do it to take on one of the great challenges in motorsport.
Starting with the breath-taking plunge down Bray Hill at 180mph+, a lap of the course takes the fastest riders just under 17 minutes. 17 minutes of pure adrenaline as they tackle over 200 corners, climb from sea level to over 1000ft and - at the fastest parts of the course - touch 200mph.
Fans who have visited the Isle of Man TT know there is nothing else like it. In places it is possible to sit within metres of the bikes as they power past, their slipstreams whipping fans’ hair and clothes and the smell of hot engines and the tang of the exhausts lingering even after the howl and crack of the passing bikes has faded. This is the ultimate motorsport bucket list trip.
